Brief Description:
Gwandalan is located 130 km north of Sydney and 50 km north of Gosford, and it is perched on a peninsula on the southern reaches of Lake Macquarie, Gwandalan is the perfect anchor for a holiday to sample the swimming, boating, fishing and wine-sampling delights of Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and the Tuggerah Lakes system of the Central Coast. By day you can take a scenic cruise aboard such craft as the Macquarie Lady and Wangi Queen. Or, if the muse takes you, why not drop into the Wangi Wangi studio-home and now shrine of artist William Dobell. One of Australia's most important and influential artists of the 20th century, Dobell was born in neighbouring Newcastle and lived and worked from the shores of Lake Macquarie from 1942 until his death in 1970.

Gwandalan is home to a fantastic public school currently with over 400 students enrolled. Gwandalan is also close to Lake Munmorah high school, with over 800 students. Gwandalan is also home to the Gumnut Grove Pre School.

If you are in the mood for a little indulgence, you can visit one of the areas great major shopping centres. Travel south and you will find Lakehaven shopping centre. Lake Haven shopping centre is home to K-Mart, Woolworths, Coles, Best & Less and over 100 other retail specialty stores. You will also find many family restaurants such as McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, Subway, Eagle Boys, Dominos Pizza and a 24 hour Caltex Service Station located just outside the centre.

Located north of Lake Munmorah is Charlestown Square. Over 220 stores including Target, Sanity, Priceline, Medicare and much more.
